More than a decade ago, Twilight fever gripped America. The book series became massively successful, and then the stories were quickly adapted into a film franchise. Those movies produced a handful of soundtracks that were hugely popular at the time, and which are apparently still beloved to this day.
This week, the soundtrack albums that accompanied the first two Twilight movies quickly became bestsellers after being re-released on vinyl—in more than one version, which made them highly collectible. Now, they’re both back on several Billboard charts as they become top performers once more.
The original Twilight soundtrack sold just under 13,000 copies in the past tracking frame, according to Luminate. That’s a massive uptick in purchases for the 15-plus-year-old title. The week prior, the same effort sold double-digit copies, so it grows by 24,311%.
That’s an enormous uptick in purchases, but the second album in the series grew even more. The Twilight Saga: New Moon is also back on the charts, as its vinyl was released at the same time. The second film’s accompanying musical project sold just under 10,000 copies last frame in America. That’s up from a little more than 10 in the seven-day tracking period before. The Twilight Saga: New Moon experienced a 25,174% sales growth.All those purchases proved to be enough to send both Twilight and The Twilight Saga: New Moon back to Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart. In the past, they’ve reigned supreme, and now they’re not far from the summit once again.The first Twilight soundtrack breaks back into the top 10 on the Top Album Sales chart this week, landing at No. 7. The The Twilight Saga: New Moon album appears at No. 13, sitting just below the highest tier.Such healthy sales figures are also enough to push both Twilight and The Twilight Saga: New Moon to several other rankings. The bestsellers reappear on the Billboard 200 and the Soundtracks lists. They also both manage to debut on the Vinyl Albums tally this frame.
